 AKARI

"AKARI" is a six-minute Tokusatsu genre action short that we produced at Narō in conjunction with a masterclass course featuring Ultraman director Takeshi Yagi. Early in the making of Yagi's masterclass project, a sudden opportunity arose to premiere this story concept at Tokyo Comic-Con, only several days away.

Our director, Yagi, and editor, Niko Lanzuisi, assembled a silent six-minute edit from the production footage, and I was briefed on the plot. Over the next few days, I took their edit from zero audio to everything you hear now. From composing the music, scripting voices (*Spanish and final "Chisora" courtesy of Jordan Smith), sound effects, and ambiences, to the final mix.

AKARI made it to Comic-Con and was also selected for the Fantasia Festival in Montreal, where it was presented in tandem with Shin Kamen Rider, a top TV and Film series in Japan of this genre. However challenging the creative task and deadline, I had an incredible time working on this project.
